We're standing by here because any moment there's going to be a news conference about the shooting death of an off-duty Monterey Park police officer. He was gunned down. Monday afternoon, while apparently in his car and a parking lot in Downey

outside of an L.A. Fitness. We learned yesterday at this time his name, Gardiel Solario, 26 years old.

They don't give us much else. They just wanted to update people yesterday the fact that they wanted

to release his name and

the investigation was continuing but there supposedly have been some arrests in the shooting

there's 345 p m so as i mentioned witnesses and of course security cameras it shows at one point

his car went backward about 25 feet and slammed into a parked van possibly he was trying to escape gunfire

they do not believe he was targeted could have been a carjacking or some sort of robbery gone bad

he wasn't so he wasn't on duty. He was sitting like anybody else.

Yeah, they probably didn't know he was a cop, right?
