I don't know why that happened, but it did.

We'll begin with the breaking story from the cool pool.

Jim Brown, the great NFL running back, also a great college star,

passed away at the age of 84. Jim Brown appeared on the John and Ken show several times back in the

1990s. John might remember that. He had an anti-gang group called Ameri Ken, and he came on the show

to talk about what really was a terrible scourge.

In Southern California, there, especially in the mid-90s, early 90s, which gang violence was really rampant.

That's the period we like to refer to when the El Secondo Times rolls out its usual,

oh, it's not as bad as it was in the 90s, the crime rates.

And they pull out the homicide numbers.

And yeah, gang crime was rampant back then.

He played nine seasons only in the NFL.

Oh, by the way, he was 87, before he retired, kind of young, only at the age of like 30.

And then eventually got into acting,

and then eventually he got into this anti-gang violence group that he formed. It was also a big

part of the civil rights movement, although this part caught my eye in ESPN's story about him.
