Hi, Scott. Thanks for having me on the show. We talked John just after the college football

playoff has wrapped up, and also as the NFL playoffs are about to begin, and there's still

an emphasis and an interest in player safety

on both of those levels. You wrote a book some time ago called The Big Scrum, How Teddy Roosevelt

Saved Football. This goes back, of course, to the early 1900s. Today's injuries, today's

violence, as bad as it seems, is nothing really compared to what it was,

well, 120 years ago or so.

No, it's way worse back then.

And it's pretty bad right now.

Concussions are a problem.

Long-term health effects of head injuries is something that doctors and leagues and

leagues and everybody's studying wanted to understand

how to keep the game safe for players right now.
