Hello again, everybody, and welcome to the Mike Francesa podcast, part of the Bet Rivers Network, and we're joined now by the new head coach of the football Giants, which is music to giant fans from coast to coast. John Harbour joins us now. Coach, welcome. How are you?

Hey, Mike. I'm doing great. Great to be with you.

Nice to see you there. Nice to see you in place. You know, one of the things that I hear from coaches,

John, is how hard it is to build the staff now, that it's the most impossible thing in this era to get a good staff when you make

a move. How hard was it to put a staff together? It was unbelievably hard. I mean, like, waking up at

132 in the morning and not being able to go back to sleep for fear that you're not going to be able

to get a good staff or get a guy or something's happening and then going into the office and starting to make calls. I have guys that got texts at 3, 3.30, 4 o'clock in the morning, you know, are you coming? Can we get you? Would you be interested? It's crazy right now. There's a lot of rules. There's a lot of different, you know, people, you can get blocked for guys. You think you have a chance for a guy. Sometimes you think you're going to get a couple, two or three guys, and they get head coaching jobs. Did that happen to us this year? I think it did, you know, with Todd Munkin, and that threw a monkey wrenching what we were trying to do. So you're happy for guys like Todd in that case, but, you know, you're kind of mad for yourself. so it's a tough challenge. challenge. You know, you went for guys who have head coaching experience. You went with guys

with familiarity. You have 11 guys coming who you've coached before. I've learned through

the years, especially from coaches I've been around. You don't want to have to coach the coaches.

How much is the familiarity and the experience that you have on the staff going to help you? That's a great point, Mike. That's exactly what I was thinking and kind of aiming for. We have some young guys, but we have some young guys with experience or guys that I know personally, and I've seen them coach, I've seen them work. We want hit the ground running I mean our goal is as soon as those those players come back man

they they see the program it's in place and we're rolling we're not trying to

learn each other or figure each other out we're gonna be practicing our game

planning in the off season for for at least our division games and make sure that

we've got everything ironed out I wanted a bunch of coaches that know what they're doing and also kind of know how

we're going to operate, know what the value system is going to be, what the expectations are

going to be, just how things are going to work. How hard is it going to be for you to get a grasp

on your personnel? Will you have to go through a training camp

before you really get a grasp? Or can you do that with film and with what you'll do in the

spring, even in the limited things you have now? And it's so hard to coach now because you never

get to put your hands on the players anymore. But with that being the
