I'm Susie Larson, so honored to get to spend this time with you.

In fact, I look forward to bringing you conversations every single day that hopefully inspire

you in your faith walk, the deep in your understanding of God's Word, that heightens your

awareness of his very real presence in your life.

We have one of my favorite guests today, and I can't wait to introduce him, even though he needs no introduction.

First, I want to tell you, maybe you heard me share this before, but a while back I spoke with Max Locato,

and he said something that has not left me, and it really sets up today's conversation well, but he said he talked about how in the prairie days folks obviously

lived simpler lives. What he said is they knew what was going on in their own home,

they knew what was going on in their local community. Once in a great while, news came in

from afar, but he said that is how they functioned. And we are not wired to receive this 24-7

barrage of news and updates, especially when we're receiving

all these updates from such filtered perspectives, and it's taking a toll on our souls.

Well, my guest today writes this. At the end of any given day, most people come home in a state

of exhaustion, numb on our good days fried more often than we admit. The world has gone

completely mad, and it's trying

to take our souls with it. John Eldridge joins me today to talk about his new book,
