That's when it got wheels off. One of my favorite things about recording these wheels off conversations is getting to meet people whom I admire.

It's always been a perk of my job to meet these people I look up to.

And one of my very earliest moments of that happening

was when in the mid-1990s,

I got to meet, befriend, and eventually work with John Doe.

His band X was essential to my formation as a musician, as a songwriter, as a performer.

The abandon that he threw into his songs and his performance, his stage demeanor,

is something that I admired from, I don't know, 13 years old on.
