we're joined by Dr. Edward Gutierrez. He is assistant Professor of History and Director of the Center for Military History and Grand Strategy at Hillsdale College.

So this is a new venture here on Hillsdale's campus, the Center for Military History and Grand Strategy.

I want to ask about what it is in a moment, but the name

itself, why not just the Center for Military History? What's essential about the grand

strategy portion of this effort? Yeah, well, it's a fantastic question. I think it is actually

essential. It's something I fought for to put it in because grand strategy is something in Churchill would

have understood and I think a lot of other strategists, so to speak, would understand because

you really have three levels of war, you have strategy operations and tactics, but above that

is grand strategy.

What grand strategy does is it ties in its totality of foreign policy, let's say.

So economics, political leadership.

It's everything that goes involved into fighting a war.

But I think what's most important in why President Arn wanted the center

in the history department is that Grand Strategy is looking at the long-term game. It's looking at,
