John D. Rockefeller is remembered as one of the most important businessmen in American history.

His story began with very little, but through determination, hard work, and careful planning,

he built the largest oil company in the world.

Later in life, he became known not just for his wealth, but for giving much

of it a way to help others. His life shows how someone can shape a country through both business

and generosity. Rockefeller was born on July 8, 1839, in a small town in New York. His family did not have much money. His father

traveled a lot for work and was often away from home, so young John helped his mother care

for the family. His mother taught him to be honest, to save every penny he could, and to always

keep track of money. These lessons stayed with him his whole life.

When John was a teenager, his family moved to Cleveland, Ohio.

There Rockefeller got his first real job as an assistant bookkeeper when he was just 16 years

old.

He was very good with numbers and worked hard to do everything perfectly. He kept

careful records, checked every detail, and learned quickly. His bosses noticed his talent and trusted

him with bigger tasks. Even at a young age, Rockefeller knew he wanted to be successful,

and he saved most of the money he earned to prepare for future opportunities.

Around this time, something big was happening in America. The oil industry was growing.
