Summary

We talk to the hymn-writer John Bell, who is a member of the Iona community, about the roots and traditions of Celtic Christianity, which took shape in the British Isles and modelled a very different way to the Roman church that followed shortly after.

After the interview, Nomad hosts David Blower and Anna Robinson talk about their own experiences of Celtic Spirituality, and the role it’s played in the evolution of their faith.

Interview starts at 14m 40s

I'm all right. Thank you. Yeah, I've got a bit of a sore back. But apart from that, the sun is shining and looking forward to this conversation. How are you doing?

1:29.3

Yeah, yeah. It does seem to be a bit of a common issue, I think, the old back. So, what have you been up to, David? Have you been busy? Last time I saw you was at the Gathering Embers retreat, but you've been doing lots of things since then. Tell me what you've been up to.

1:48.7

Oh yeah, I've been really, really busy. That retreat was delightful, by the way, wasn't it?

1:58.3

It's all been so busy that we haven't actually kind of touched base since we did it to wax on how beautifully it went.

2:02.1

But there we go. That was a beautiful thing to be part of.

2:07.2

Yeah, and then it was half term, and I was camping with the kids.
