Hey folks, welcome to the program. Chris Heimes, happy Memorial Day belated.

Thank you. And to you as well.

You know, a lot of times people, they think, oh, Eric, you went to Yale. Oh, you're really smart.

I just want to confess, Yale is a very, very bad university, number one. Number two, in some ways I'm smart and in some ways I'm in an idiot. And the reason I say that is because I just want people to understand that there's so much that I don't know that I'm embarrassed when I learn it and then I talk about it or I write a book about it and people think I knew it all the time and I'm thinking, no, I didn't. I even the reason I'm saying this right now is Memorial

Day is a perfect example of that. I'm so dumb that I didn't know till I don't know when a year

ago that Memorial Day was specifically only to honor those who have fallen in serving this country. I've grown up in the same world

that most Americans have grown up in, which is a world of ignorance where, you know, July 4th is a

day where you blow off firecrackers and eat hot dogs. You forget what happened on July 4th.

Memorial Day, oh, that's just a weekend that starts the summer,

like Labor Day, just ends the summer.

And to really understand, you know, I had some vague sense that it was about, you know,

honoring those who have served.

But it's only very recently that I knew that that Memorial Day, which is really

as sacred as it gets, is a holiday to honor those who have given their lives, the ultimate

sacrifice. So it really got to me this year thinking about it. And I just wanted to say that we would not have a nation.
