Welcome to Searchlight, a survey through Scripture with Pastor John Corson.

It is our desire to bring you a systematic study of the entire Bible, chapter by chapter, book by book.

One of the most confusing questions that people ask is, why is their suffering? In our study last time we

began looking at a story in John chapter 9 that gives us some perspective on this

question. The story is about a man who was born blind. We saw that the

disciples of Jesus wanted to know why this happened. They assumed that it was from sin and wanted to know who sinned that he should suffer

in blindness.

But Jesus tells them that it is not sin that caused this suffering.

There is a more important reason.

As we pick up the teaching today, Pastor John is telling a personal story that helps illustrate God's higher purpose in the

suffering that we encounter. With our study here now is Pastor John.

Misery always opens the door for ministry. I can recall as a junior at Delmar High School.

I was selected to represent our district, Campbell Union High School, up at the Athletes in Action National Conference.

When I got that honor, that opportunity, I was real excited about it until I found out where it was going to be.
