Welcome to Searchlight, a survey through Scripture with Pastor John Corson.

It is our desire to bring you a systematic study of the entire Bible, chapter by chapter, book by book.

In our last Searchlight program, we learned an interesting spiritual truth.

That truth is that judgment and joy go hand in hand. In other words, we will only have joy when our sin is judged and dealt with.

As we continue our study today in John chapter 2, Pastor John will finish up some thoughts on this truth.

Then we will discuss some interesting understandings about the purpose of the church.

With today's study, here now is Pastor John.

And so Jesus declares in verse 16, take these things from here, make not my father's house.

Hey, for you students, mark that my father's house. Make not my father's house a house of

merchandise. For you see, three years later, at the end of his ministry before he's crucified,

in Matthew chapter 23, verse 28 28 Jesus says to them those Jews

behold your house is left unto you desolate it's no longer my father's house at that time they refused to

receive his ministry they resented his overturning the table. They didn't

acknowledge him as their savior and king personally. And so now the Lord looks at that temple three
