Welcome to Searchlight, a survey through Scripture with Pastor John Corson.

It is our desire to bring you a systematic study of the entire Bible, chapter by chapter, book by book.

Today on Searchlight, we are going to be attending a wedding ceremony.

This wedding is found in John chapter 2 and has some very important implications for us today.

On our last program, we saw that Jesus attended this wedding, and his presence there put

God's seal of approval on the civil, legal, and religious wedding ceremony.

As we continue the teaching today, we are considering the situation of Mary, the mother

of Jesus. She was somehow involved in being a hostess at this wedding and was enlisting

the help of Jesus in solving a problem. They had run out of wine.

Let's now join Pastor John as we consider why Mary turned to Jesus with this problem.

Now I believe that in this, my personal conviction is, is that Mary was not interested only in providing wine.

But Mary felt at last, this is the time.

For 30 years, my reputation has been maligned. People gossip about me, whisper slanders concerning me.

They did, you know, in John chapter 8, they'll even tell Jesus, we were not born of fornication.
