Welcome to our new project, the Daily Bible Devotional. The goal is to help you understand and apply

scripture as you go through a New Testament Bible read five days a week, Monday through Friday,

as we move from Matthew straight through to Revelation. In under four minutes each morning, we will recap the chapter,

make some application, present thought questions for the day, and offer a prayer together.

Welcome to our Bible study today from John the 14th chapter.

Jesus says twice to his apostles, quote,

Do not let your heart be troubled.

Jesus first tells them not to worry because he will go to heaven to prepare a place for them

and then he will return to take them home.

They did not understand where Jesus was going,

but he goes to the Father and is in perfect unity with the Father. Jesus explains that his

disciples must honor him by keeping his commandments. All who love Jesus must obey him.

Jesus assures the apostles, he will send a helper the Holy Spirit to teach them how to establish

his church.

A second time he tells them not to be troubled because the Spirit's presence will help them

live with peace so that they can accomplish his work without fear.
