You've done it all in football, man.

You've coached high school a lot.

You're the head coach at Texas Tech now.

And I assume a lot of folks ask you about, oh, the evolution of football, college football, high school football, or whatnot.

Does it shock you, though, even within how much this game has always changed, how much it has changed in the past five years?

And then you find

yourself on the wave just kind of trying to balance it all? It's crazy. I tell everybody, like,

I have not been in college football for very long whenever I look at time. I've only been in

college football for eight years going on nine years. Whenever Matt Ruhle hired me at Baylor,

December 12th, 2016, that was still a February signing date that was it like we had one commit we're you know got a

month to put a class together and now you fast forward and you've got multiple

signing dates the signing dates are changing and you've NIL, you've got revenue sharing coming up.

And so it is crazy how fast college football has changed.

And I don't think it's stopping.

I think it's going to continue to evolve.

I think what strikes me the most is if you think about time in like five-year chunks or ten-year chunks, but for our purposes here, 10 years is good.

If you think about 10 years ago, if you could have that glimpse into the future and you could hear how freely we're talking about, well, we paid our linebacker this much.

Well, we're going to revenue distribute our left tackle that much. You would have thought, did Lubbett get an NFL team? Basically, that's what you would have thought, because there's no way these people are talking about college athletics. And yet, not only is that now sort of the lay of the land, the law of the land, it's also the norm. We just kind of speak freely about it. And it happened, it's not a span of 20 years. It happened like that. In a blink of an eye, you know, it changed. It is funny. You never, you know, I go back and I think back. This is my 31st year of coaching. I was a high school coach for 23 years. I had some dudes at

Cedar Hill. Man, I had some great players that went everywhere from Oregon to OU to Texas to,

you know, Ole Miss. And, you know, you never thought about anything like that. You're thinking

about the scholarship and, you know, what that's going to pay for and where they were going to
