Summary
Giants general manager Joe Schoen joins the show fresh off the hiring of John Harbaugh and walks through how the process came together so quickly. Schoen details why the Giants were prepared for unexpected coaching movement, how early research mattered, and why they moved decisively once Harbaugh became available.
Schoen also opens up about roster construction, the importance of Jaxson Dart’s development, and why the Giants believe their young core made the job attractive. He addresses his own performance as GM, the Daniel Jones decision, resisting short term fixes, and the plan to keep building through free agency and the draft. The conversation closes with roster priorities, staff building, and why Schoen believes the Giants are positioned for a real turnaround under Harbaugh.

| 1:08.0 | Yeah, when we started the process several weeks ago, when we moved on from Dave's, we started doing research on a lot of coaches. Then you start hearing rumbling. So you're, you know, you go several different ways. You know some coaches that you can can hire. And then there's some rumors of coaches that maybe let go. So, you know, we did a lot of research. We were expecting maybe some of the unexpected. And Coach Harbaal was one we had heard rumors of, you know, maybe he'll come free, maybe he won't. Coach Tomlin, you know, some of those things. So we set up our process. We started interviewing right away. You know, we did Kafka on Monday after the season and then Stefansky on Tuesday. So we were, or Wednesday, so we were prepared. We were ready to interview. |
| 1:45.0 | We had a very detailed process. We had done a lot of research already because of the runway that we had leading up to the end of the season. |

| 2:01.7 | middle of the season? Yeah, it's hard to find a lot of positives in that, but that would be one. You know, |

| 2:12.2 | you got, you know, a Thursday press conference somebody or you're Googling or, you know, you're on |

| 2:25.1 | research on a lot of a lot of football coaches looking back on the Davis firing before we move |
| 2:29.4 | ahead it appeared like that was an ownership decision so did it take you by surprise surprise? And when you're told, is there pushback? Like, how does that discussion occur when that goes down in the middle of the season? Yeah, it was a decision that was made, and at the end of the day, you know, we hadn't won enough games. And it was very difficult because he's really one of my good friends professionally and personally, and we worked together for a long time. |
