And so as we work with our children, I think what we teach them is that, yes, we want to be kind and not out of a place that says, because I'm coming here as your savior to help you.

0:10.9

We want to be kind because we recognize a transcendent connection with them.

0:17.2

We recognize that there is something of God in each of us that we can all learn about.

0:22.2

And that is a beautiful thing.

So happy to have Laura Wiffler on the show today, co-founder of Risen Motherhood,

0:35.3

podcaster and author. I want to really hop right into our

0:38.4

conversation today, Laura, because we've been talking all month on the God knows season of the

1:26.1

perfect time because I really wanted to talk about

1:29.1

what you talk about in this. The book is called Like Me and you wrote it to help kids understand

1:34.4

and be friends with those with disabilities. Talk to me, give me a little bit of background

1:40.3

about where you're coming from writing this book if people don't know who you are and

1:44.3

don't know your background. Sure, absolutely. Well, about five years ago, my youngest daughter,

1:50.2

my third child was born and she was diagnosed fairly quickly with a genetic disease called

1:55.4

rare chromosome. So it's kind of this blanket term for children who are pretty unique in what their diagnosis is,

2:03.1

which meant we really didn't have a roadmap or a spectrum even for what she would maybe be able to do
