I told you last week about my heart for Compassion International, a ministry I have loved for a long time.

I went to El Salvador back in, I think 2011, with a team to see firsthand what compassion does for children in poverty.

And it's the first time I can remember being aware that there were people in the world who had to choose between

running water and electricity. Many places didn't have either and none that I experienced

had both. I think something happens when we step outside ourselves and remember that the

world is big and the needs are great and we aren't the only one that is hurting.

It's an interesting thing that happens when you care for someone, even in your own pain and hardship,

strength and capacity for endurance increases as you watch others press on with the help of God.
