Hi, and welcome to Jesus Over Everything, a five-day-a-week variety show that mixes encouragement,

0:05.4

the Bible, practical how-toes, and fantastic guests for the listener on the go. I'm Lisa Whittle,

0:10.4

and I welcome you to just five minutes with me, which I trust and pray will be five minutes well spent.

I'm crazy about our guests for the next two days. This powerhouse leader, Bible study teacher,

0:19.8

and mentor Jada Edwards, brought the heat to

0:22.2

the if conference stage this year, which is where I saw her for the first time, and I knew then

0:27.3

I had to have her on the show. She brings us a powerful word in her guest-hosted show today,

0:32.5

and tomorrow too, plus we have some fun in our interview about, among other things, her new Bible study with two other women I deeply respect, Casey Van Norman and Nicole Johnson called Known by Name, a study of Rahab.

1:29.6

this contrast between slavery and sonship. And when I first started reading this and studying,

1:36.1

I thought, well, of course, if I'm a believer, I know I'm not a slave, I know I'm free. But the

1:40.9

Galasian church were believers too. So I started wondering why Paul needed to give them this message.

1:46.1

And truly, they had begun to creep back into some old behaviors, even though they had this new freedom in Christ.

1:52.9

And specifically, they were under the influence of Judaizers, some Jewish leaders who grew up Orthodox Jews but had become Christians, had become

2:02.8

Christ followers, but now we're starting to mix back ceremony, a lot of things like circumcision,

2:08.1

mixed that in and say you need Jesus plus some of these rituals. And so the Galatians were

2:13.0

falling under this kind of legalistic rule-based Christianity. And Paul was outraged. And as I read through

2:20.9

this particular letter, his passion for this church, he's not soft-stepping it. It is like he's trying

2:27.0

to snatch them up and shake them and look them in the eyes and say, this is bigger than just you
