The Joe Rogan experience. This is the Joe Rogan experience podcast, or, as the New York

Times puts it, one of the most consumed media products on the planet. And the figures

are staggering. Each episode has around 11 million listeners. He has 14 million Instagram

followers, 11 million YouTube subscribers. And in 2020, Spotify added another astonishing

figure to the Joe Rogan story.

If you take it up to 2020, Joe Rogan was the biggest name in podcasting on YouTube. Then

Spotify's shelled out $100 million to bring him exclusive. This is Will Farmer, former

chief economist at Spotify. But two years after that signing, there's a problem. As my colleague,

Rachel Shreya, points out.

There's a range of misleading claims that have been made either by Joe Rogan himself or

by his guess who generally aren't very strongly challenged, not in a saying they say. For

example, Joe Rogan himself has repeatedly described the COVID vaccine as not being a vaccine

of a full of gene therapy, which is role.

Joe Rogan's podcast feature a vast range of topics. One of them is the pandemic. And

if you've listened, you'll have heard misinformation about COVID. It's an issue raised by Dr.

Cotrine Wallace at the University of Illinois. In this clip, she refers to myocarditis, which

is an inflammation of the heart muscle.

There's been assertions on the Joe Rogan podcast that the vaccine causes myocarditis. And

in actuality, we know that the rate of myocarditis is much higher in COVID-19 illness than it
