That's when it got wheels off. Joe Reyes of San Antonio, Texas, is, full disclosure, an old friend of mine,

but he's also such an incredible performer, musician, songwriter, producer, engineer. He's won a Grammys, but nominated

for other Grammys. He's worked with a lot of people in a lot of different genres from, like,

really obvious kind of Latin stuff, Tejano stuff, Cojonto stuff, Freddie Finder, Flaco Jimenez, for instance,

no big deal. If you know who those guys are, you know very big deal. And Joe is just a sweetheart.

I mean, he's not just a sweetheart. Clearly, he's also a brilliant talent as well, but he is a sweetheart. And he's a really generous guy with his talent and with his time. He teaches music. He serves as something of a teacher to all of his rock and roll friends. For years, he's been in the band

Buttercup, which has spun off into the band Dimitas. That's a lot of, like, more artsy pop,

rock kind of stuff. But he does it all, and he makes it seem so easy. That's so maddening, too,

when you watch him work, and he makes it just seem so easy. That's so maddening, too, when you watch him work and he makes it just seem so easy.

So I think this is a really sweet, useful conversation that you're going to enjoy listening to.

Joe, he does have very much an element of the teacher about him. You know, he did get a degree.

He'll explain that during the course of this conversation as well.

The 10 years he spent getting a degree to sort of satisfy his father's old school belief

that everyone should have a degree that they can fall back on.

And he could, if he wanted.

He could go teach beautifully. I mean, who knows? Maybe he may go do that, be fall back on. And he could if you wanted. He could go teach beautifully.
