First Devo show of season

three, and remember, we're talking about phrases Christians love this season. Not all bad,

not all good, and definitely not all helpful. Some phrases we say, I think, are a little more nuanced

than the definitive way we dogmatically pronounce them. And today's phrase Christians love to say is one such as that, here it is.

Let's be known for what we are for, not what we are against.

Oh, I know.

Some of you are already raising your eyebrow at me because you love this one.

On the surface, it sounds exactly right.

And I don't disagree with it completely, by the way.

I just think there's a little more to it than the phrase itself. And today, I'll pull the

curtain back and dive into it on Joe. We all know we live in a polarized world. Who believes what? Who is for what political party? And even though the lines of standard are often blurred in our culture, we are also getting more opinionated. Or maybe I should say it like this. We've always had opinions. I think we just feel much more free anymore to express them in our anything goes culture.

There's a big difference between denying our rights and general human courtesy to get along

well with others. And I think that's been largely lost for so many of us. We tend to confuse

speaking our mind with being real. And the two are most definitely not the same.
