Hello and welcome to this week's What Most People think and the news just keeps on coming, man. We've had global outages. We've had violence

0:22.5

on set at Strictly and President Biden has withdrawn. And this week's guest returning Rachel

0:28.8

Fairburn, I've got to ask you, where were you when you heard the news about violence

0:33.1

on set at Strictly? Let's just start with the big news. Oh, where was it? I think it was probably

0:36.6

on a train. That's where I was. Everyone will always remember when they heard that Giovanni, I think in my mind they're all called Giovanni. Giovanni and Sergio. Giovanni, Sergio and Philippe. And Felipe, yeah. But of course, we will be talking about that in the Patreon-only section, but of course there we'll lead off in a short while with the big news about Joe Biden. There was the global outage, and then in the patron-only, we'll talk about the strictly violence. Did you have a good weekend, Rachel? Yeah, it's been all right, actually. Because we're recording this Monday at 10 a.m. I think with this kind of news cycle, it's really important to stress that just in case, I don't know, like something else happens. You know, like it feels like anything globally could happen at the moment. And it could just be to do with a systems update of a computer. That's what's worrying. Yeah, absolutely. I mean, did you just, I mean, we'll get into that story later, but just at what point in the day did you first become aware that something was going on with computers?

1:35.3

Well, very early actually, because I have this sort of personal trainer, which sounds more, more wanky than it is.

1:42.3

It's basically just a woman that tells me not to eat chips every day. We have this fitness app. So what we do, she does an exercise routine for us and we check it every day. And I've clicked on it and I was like, oh, that's not working. That's a shame. And then the WhatsApp group was pinging. So it was all people going, I can't access my exercise today. So that's how I found out. Very boring. That's how they always said the society would start to crumble. But you were able to eat chips, which is the good news. Absolutely. Mine happened very, very early was the, it was like, you know those disaster films where you always see that it's happening in the background, right? There'll be a dog barking, there'll be a news story on the radio. But it literally was like that. I went up, me and my mate went to the cricket on Friday and we went to get some train beers. Oh, yeah. It was very early. It was very, it was half seven. But we did go for Fosters, which I'd argue was a good breakfast. Oh, God. And we went to get, and there was cash there, and then we got up to the train station,

2:37.8

like all the gate. it was half seven. But we did go for Fosters, which I'd argue is a good breakfast. Oh, God.

2:34.8

And we went to get, and it was cash there, and then we got up to the train station, like all the gates were being opened. So it was, yeah, it was a really shit disaster film. Just sort of minor chaos. Yeah, minor short-term chaos. But not for everything. That was what I think saved us. No, but the thing is as well, you know, nothing works anyway.

2:54.5

Mm-hmm. But not for everything. That was what I think saved us. No, but the thing is as well, you know, nothing works anyway.

2:54.2

So that happening was just like, oh, well, it's like every day, but slightly more annoying.

3:01.8

So it's like, of course nothing works.

3:04.3

You know, once I got a train the other week, there's no hot drinks on the train. I that great okay then you know you go in a shop are we no we've not got that they're and when you show pictures of like the he throw airport and stuff i'm like well that just looks like he's throw airport i mean that's like business as usual is it not there's always something the only thing that didn't happen was because the tories are no longer in. If this had happened while the Tories were in, it would have been a per... There'd have been a columnist in The Guardian going, this is what 14 years of Conservative government produces. Well, exactly. I did see as well. Someone had commented Stam as Britain under something. I was like, oh, it started already. it. Yeah, oh no, but there's a lot of people, like me included, that are just so keen to get that going. I'm waiting for when is the first point when I can just go general election now, people's vote. I mean, you could legitimately say with Starmor that people didn't know what they were voting for because Labor didn't tell anyone anything. So you could get you that people didn't know what they were voting for. But I mean, let's face it, since the change of the government, it's been the news has just gone off the scale, on it? I mean... Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, there's been good stuff for Starm. He's been out to do cool stuff like NATO summits and handshakes, but a bit of those life comes at you fast.

4:14.4

You know that geese that the other day that you said was still sharp as anything.

4:18.7

Well, he's just admitted that he's not.

4:20.4

Wow.

4:20.9

And he's pulled out, which we will talk about shortly.

Every once in a while, Rachel, I forget to do. I just don't see someone's name and a lady got in touch. And these are the kind of people that I attract is that she's annoyed that I haven't roasted her name. So we've got to give this one extra. But remember if you, she emailed. By the way, if you are a patron, you can DM me, nothing fruity, please. Well, nothing too fruity. 70s style free. Negliges, up to Neglajays. A bit cheeky. A bit, a bit cheeky. Nothing graphic, just a bit cheeker. Yeah, yeah, just a neighbour hanging out of washing it in a negligee. That's how they used to do then. That's how they used to send up the bat signal that they were horny. This is Lauren Philippe. Lauren Philippe. I mean, that is, like, it looks like a potentially a Greek surname. Yeah, I'd say so. I mean, Lauren is such a rock-solid English girl name. There you've got Philippe. Lauren Philippe. Lauren Philippe.

5:22.3

Do you know what she sounds like?
