Summary
This is something of a different episode of the show. It's dedicated, almost in its entirety to one man, a brilliant writer and radio performer named Joe Frank. Joe Frank started his career by and large on WBAI in New York and eventually made his way to KCRW in Los Angeles, He was completely unique, incredibly inventive and is actually the reason this podcast exists.
Joe Frank sadly passed away in January of this year. He was 79. But he leaves a legacy of an amazing body of work and I cannot recommend it strongly enough. And it is all available to you, at JoeFrank.com.
During this show, I'm going to be talking to our own Eddie Pepitone, another big fan of Joe's work, and Dave Carlson, who wrote and directed the documentary Joe Frank: Somewhere Out There and you can learn everything about that at JoeFrankMovie.com.
Now, I'm not getting a dime off of any of this. I'm a fan and if you enjoy what I do, I think you'd really dig, so I'm trying to hep you cool cats to some wow new sounds.
There will be no middle piece this show, no Two Guys From Boston, though both will be back next month, in between the interviews, I will be interspersing some of my favorite monologues from Joe, it's about, .000000001 % of his work, but hopefully it will whet your appetite enough to go to JoeFrank.com and JoeFrankMovie.com to take a bigger bite.
I want to personally extend my thanks to Michal Story and Logan of my favorite and at the end of the episode, we're going to play half hour piece that I wrote that Joe produced and aired in his show In The Dark in 1993. I want to thank Farley Zeigler, Michal Story Dave Carlson and Logan at Joe Frank.com for their permission in using these pieces and for making them available.
