We had some gremlins in the studio, so let's get right back to Mark Penn, former senior advisor

to President Clinton, Hillary Clinton, and the president of the Stagwell Group.

Mark, I began to ask the question around betting markets because I saw the trend

happening where President Biden was a small favorite over Donald Trump as far as April 18th was concerned

in Polly Market, which is the leading betting market there.

And now Trump, as of this morning, is an 18-point favorite to win back to presidency.

How much stock do you put in betting markets, if at all?

I don't put any stock in the betting markets.

You know, they go with the wind.

They're not really, you know, I don't consider them a source of political expertise.

You know, I think the polls show that the Trump is winning in virtually every poll

because the president's job approval is in the low 40s, 44 in my poll,

and President Trump's, we'll call it nostalgic or recollection job approval, is 55.

And so I think that even though the horse races are closer, that's the underlying dynamic.

And, you know, inflation is the real issue.

It's that is dominating, you know, voter anxiety.

And we're talking to Mark Penn.

In 2022, Mark, many people, myself included, were predicting a red wave just based on the

conditions of the country, the inflation that you spoke of, the perception even then that

Joe Biden perhaps is too old and doesn't have the mental acuity for the job.
