But first, I am pleased to announce that Joseph R. Biden has received 16 votes for President of the United States.

We have six votes for Joseph R. Biden for President.

Across the country yesterday, in state capitals at a university gym,

and of course on Zoom, Joe Biden's victory in the presidential election was formally confirmed.

The electors of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania have cast 20 votes for the honorable Joseph R. Biden for President of the United States.

For Joseph R. Biden of Delaware, a Democrat, I-55, knows zero.

The Electoral College affirmed the result of November's election, 306 votes to 232,

the same margin Donald Trump won by four years ago.

Speaking after the tally, Mr. Biden struck an impassioned tone.

The flame of democracy was lit in this nation a long time ago.

And we now know nothing, not even a pandemic, or an abuse of power, can extinguish that flame.

The vote is normally uncontroversial, little more than a constitutional bookkeeping matter.
