On Thursday, April 25th, 2019, after much anticipation, former Vice President Joe Biden announced his candidacy for president.

I believe history will look back on four years of this president and all he embraces as an

aberrant moment in time. But if we give Donald Trump eight years in the White House,

he will forever and fundamentally alter the character of this nation, who we are.

And I cannot stand by and watch that happen.

Four days later, Biden made his first campaign stop in front of a crowd of teamsters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

I believe that Pittsburgh and my native town of Scrant and my hometown of Wilmington and Klamont,

they represent of cities and towns that made up, make up hardworking

middle class Americans who are the backbone of this nation. That's no hyperbole. The backbone of

this nation. I also came here because, first frankly, folks, if I'm going to be able to beat on

Trump in 2020, it's going to happen here.
