claims.

So how do Joe Biden's views on executive power line up?

Cato's Gene Healy details what Joe Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris have to say about the powers of the presidency.

We've discussed this before but remind our listeners to what extent has Donald Trump asserted new presidential authorities?

He's certainly big for broad theories of executive power. He says things like when somebody's

president of the United States the authority is total. Luckily the

bark has been a lot worse than the bite.

So a lot of what when figuring out

Donald Trump and executive power

is largely a matter of separating signal from noise.

He tends to tweet out a lot of crank theories of executive power, nine out of ten of which

there's no follow-through for.

So, you know, I think it would be fair to say he doesn't have a philosophy

of executive power restraint, but happened in this administration, and there have been

some significant ones,

involves things like national emergency powers,

the use of national security powers and trade

on war powers. He has been in the Bush Obama mold with one exception which would be the

targeted killing of Solemnani and Iran.
