Over the years here on This is Hell. We have been very fortunate to feature economists, analysts, writers and

contributors to the Washington, D.C-based Think Tank Center for Economic Policy and

Research, which specializes in economic policy especially in the United States and Latin America, but globally as well. Since the beginning of

this century we have had people from CEPR on the show like Dean Baker and Mark

Wise Brought. In fact for the first time several years, Dean will be returning to the show next week.

Today we will be talking about the Recent Inflation Reduction Act, which was signed yesterday

as a bill by President Biden, jobs, guns, crypto, and

skyrocketing rents with Algernon Austin, the Director for Race and Economic Justice at the Center for Economic and Policy

Research, where he regularly writes.

His recent writing includes the report, High Joblessness for Black Youth youth more than 500,000 jobs are needed

as well as the articles black people need better options from the morgue

or than the morgue or mass incarceration.

Black people and everyone else should avoid crypto.

Only radical changes will make rents affordable.

And black children are disproportionately harmed by extremist gun rights policies in the

United States.

And he is quoted in the new CEPR statement,

Inflation Reduction Act is historic progress and yes somehow we're going to try to talk

about all of that on the show today.
