The Labor Department says jobless claims last week fell to the lowest level in three years.

About 191,000 Americans filed for new unemployment benefits in the week through November 29th.

That's a reassuring signal that the economy has avoided a big surge of layoffs. But other

data show hiring has also slowed, while unemployment edges higher, raising concerns that the labor

market has weakened. The European Commission has opened an antitrust probe into meta platforms

over WhatsApp's AI policy. Saying meta's terms announced in October stops AI developers from

tapping into a specific tool for businesses to communicate with customers on the messaging

platform. A spokesperson for META says the commission's claims are baseless. The investigation

is the latest attempt by the European Union to rein in big tech. The EU watchdog fined meta 200 million euros,

or roughly 233 and a half million dollars earlier this year. And the FBI today arrested a

Virginia man in connection with a long-running investigation into two pipe bombs placed near the

headquarters of the Democratic and Republican National Committees the night before January 6th, 2021.
