reality has crept in to the world of journalism yet again market forces that impact everybody else on a daily basis

have reared their ugly head in journalism

and they don't know how to handle it.

They're better than you.

They're better than me.

They're better than all of us.

It's hard not to get choked up.

We're talking about journalists losing their jobs, but, yeah.

Look, I don't enjoy anybody losing their job, but there is no group of human beings as configured by nature and God,

let alone by what career path they chose that is better than any other, that is above any other, be it

criticism or consequence. And journalists sure as hell are not. And yet because the Washington

Post is laying off 300 people around the world, oh my God, it's all over. They're getting rid of their bureau chief in Bali.
