Joan Van Ark steps Behind The Rope. One of the most recognized names in Nighttime Soaps, 80s Icon, Joan Van Ark. Joan is best known for her role as Valene Ewing on Knots Landing, one of the longest running prime time soap operas in history. We are thrilled to have Joan here today to chat about her career, and life for that matter, in its entirety. We reminisce about all the glory that was, is, and will always be Valene Ewing and Knot’s Landing including how Joan was cast, co-stars and real life best friends Donna Mills and Michelle Lee, the other recognizable faces that popped by the worlds most famous cul-de-sac such as Nicolette Sheridan and Alec Baldwin, the fact that it spun off from Dallas and her decision to leave the show one season before its finale.
