What got you interested in Saville in the first place?

It's a long story really.

I went to see an episode of Jim

or Picket being filmed when I was about nine, 1980,

at a TV theatre in Shepherds Bush.

I didn't meet the man. I was in the audience.

I went with my mother and my best friend. It was at a time that Saville was probably at the

height of his celebrity and his fame.

And I just had a, I just found the whole experience really weird.

I found him really cold and really, really odd.

And I think it would have remained just a sort of strange reaction to an odd guy had it not been for the fact of

stumbling across a copy of his autobiography as it happens, which I picked up probably in my mid-teens, I would have

thought. And I read that and I just thought, God, this is so bizarre. It's such an odd account. And then really my interest was pricked and I think I, you know,

started sort of collecting stuff on him or, you know, when I found an article

about him I sort of keep it and then when I became a journalist in my 20s that gathered pace.

Until, you know, I sort of joked then that I had a thing called the Savaldosier.

And what I, you know, what was in that Savaldos dossier by the first time I went to interview him in

2004 was you know his autobiography a very odd book he wrote called God'll

fix it in which he purports to outline his views on faith but he
