| 0:00.0 | Hey, hey, hey, let's have a grown-up talk about life insurance because the first thing I did as a broke cab driver when I found out that Jenny was pregnant is I went out and bought myself the peace of mind of knowing that if heaven forbid something happened to me, Jenny, and the kid in her stomach that turned out to be my son Lincoln would be provided for. And you get a lot of peace of mind from doing so because it's the highest obligation you have as |
| 0:21.5 | the head of a household, as a dad, is to provide for them whether you're here or heaven forbid you're not |
| 0:26.5 | here. And I would tell you this right now. The thing that stands out to me the most about ethos is that |
| 0:31.5 | it is easy, it is fast. And knowing you have the coverage puts you in a place where there's just a little more peace in your everyday back and forth. It doesn't matter if you're a gazillionaire. It doesn't matter if you were a broke cabby like me. You want the peace of mind of knowing that if things go sideways in life, the people who survive you and your family, the ones you love the most, are going to be taken care of even when you're not around to do it yourself. I know it's grim, I know it's heavy, but do you know what's heavier? Leaving them in a lurch and you're not there to bail them out. So get a free quote now. It's ethos.com slash Jimmy. | 1:17.4 | And I would be remiss if I didn't start the show with a shout out to my brother Mike, |
| 1:22.5 | Uncle Mikey, Lincoln's Uncle Mikey, just retired from the police force after 25 years behind the badge. |
| 1:33.0 | I mean, you could clap, but I don't know that he's going to hear it. |
| 1:38.8 | He's probably falling off a barstool in Tennessee somewhere. |
| 1:41.7 | But my brother Mike, who was, of course, a city cop for the first |
| 1:45.1 | half of his police career, ultimately made his way out to Long Island and was a cop in one of the |
| 1:50.6 | villages there. And on the very, very summer, and like the very week when I started showbiz, |
| 1:57.8 | like stand-up comedy handing out flyers in time square he had just gotten on to the |
| 2:01.8 | nypd and his precinct was here in midtown north and midtown south he started out in the south he wound up |
| 2:07.4 | in the north but in the process i was handing out comedy flyers you know every night trying to get on |
| 2:12.6 | stage and tell jokes to boozed up tourists in time square and we would hang out until he got off work. You know, he worked 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. So assuming he didn't have overtime, he'd get off work at 4 a.m. So I'd come walking out of the bar. We'd jump in my old Nissan Marano, which was new at the time. And me, him, and a couple of cops would make our way back to Long Island. And I am proud to say that most of the nights I drove them home, I stayed awake. |
| 2:37.0 | Not every night, you know, it's a long season. |
| 2:39.2 | Nobody goes undefeated. |
| 2:44.3 | But Uncle Mikey, surviving not just 25 years of dedicated police work to this great nation, but at least that many drives |
| 2:53.2 | home with me. |
