Welcome into Susie Larson live and as I'm sure you can tell this is not Susie.

Susie's going to be back with us next week, but I'm Thane Bennett and I am just thrilled.

Honestly so thrilled to be sitting in for Susie this week.

I have long considered myself

actually a part of your Faith Radio family. And as probably many of you know, I've had

regular opportunities to visit with Susie on air over the last few years. And I'm also a regular

listener to this broadcast. I usually take in the show either during my morning commute

into Washington, D.C., where I work, or in the evening as I commute home. And so I'm just so

honored to get to spend this hour with you each day this week, so grateful to the team at Faith

Radio. And like you, I so appreciate that Susie is always working in her words to bring

its conversations every single day that inspire us in our faith walk, that deepen our understanding

of God's Word, and that heighten our awareness of his very real presence in our life. And I can tell

you, these broadcasts do that for me when I'm a listener.

And so I hope this week fills that same role for you as we share time together.

Okay, if I had to guess, I would say that the fact that you're a listener to this show,

to Susie's show, that would tell me that you are longing to make your earthly life count for things that are eternal. Am I right about that? I would think that that is a desire that you have. But does that seem harder than ever these days? Does our current culture always seem to be pulling you away from that goal? And are you looking for ways to make that goal tangible in your everyday life?

I know that for me, those are questions that I've been asking.

And we're going to try to get into some very practical ways, both today and for the rest of the week, to provide some practical answers to those questions.

And in fact, I'm actually going to try to make all of our conversations this week focus in on a theme of investing in eternal things. And we're going to keep returning,

actually, to three main things sort of underneath that heading. We're going to keep returning to God's word. We're going to return to a focus on the people and the souls around us.

And then number three, we're going to focus in on the on the people and the souls around us.
