Years ago, I had a guest on the show, and I wish I could remember her name, but she said

something that grabbed my attention, and I'm still thinking about it today.

It was during her prayer time, she was worn out and just kind of weary from just working very

hard in her ministry.

And during a prayer time one day, the Lord whispered this question to her heart.

What do you think is more important? Pleasing me or trusting me? And she said right away, her thoughts

went to the importance of living, a life that pleases God. You know, that's important and it is biblical.

But just as quickly, the Holy Spirit whispered to her heart, when you focus solely on pleasing me,

you'll quickly get into

striving and performing for my love without even realizing it. But when you learn to trust me,

you'll automatically please me. Isn't that good? You know, we as God's people, we'll perform for

just a number of reasons, to prove ourselves, to gain approval, to advance our cause. But we

trust when we love and when

we're loved. Think about that. First and foremost, God is always after a relationship. And our

character, my guest today says this, that our character and our identity are formed by our

relationship with God and our relationships with others. And to the degree that we know that we're
