Let me just say this. I am really fortunate to do what I do for a living I get this I've

always understood this I've always been kind of blown away that they pay me to do

this so I've got tremendous gratitude. So I am really really thankful for what I do

for living and most of the time what I do does not feel like work. It is. I treat it as such, but it doesn't feel like work, right?

We know what work is. Watching games, talking to athletes, prepping, running people down.

I mean, good work if you can get it.

I've always understood that.

However, some nights, it does feel like work.

Some nights, I really do have to burn the candle at both ends and grind it out.

And every single year, Home Run Derby Night is one of those nights.

I mean it's like the most infuriating event because you would think that it would be impossible to mess this thing up.

It should be so simple. Everybody loves home runs. You can line some dudes up, toss them some meatballs, put it on a tee, soft toss it, and just count the home runs. Everybody leaves happy. You can't jack that up.

Easiest thing ever right? Not even baseball can jack that up. Am I right?

A. course not.

Unfortunately every single year baseball is like watch this, watch me.

And every single year baseball is like, oh hell yes. Hell yes I can make this painful.

Derby Knight to me is actually the most on-brand baseball ever gets in that it takes something that should be such an easy win and

miraculously somehow turns it into something that is barely watchable.
