I want to start unfortunately with a very sad note.

Truly a sad day as the San Francisco Giants

announced that William Mays has passed away

at the age of 93.

Now if you got to see Willie Mays play in person with the giants,

count yourself among the very lucky. Because even just how

how great he was.

Easily, the best center fielder ever,

arguably the greatest baseball player ever.

And that's not just some kind of hyperbole

that gets thrown around when somebody passes.

He really was that good.

Anything you wanted on a baseball field He really

mayes could do it and he could do it better than anybody you've ever seen before. I mean I can run down some of these numbers but even the numbers do not begin to do him justice

yet here are a few of the numbers two time MVP

two time MVP at a time where the MVP was typically given to somebody on the pennant winning team.

In the modern era, he would definitely have more.

He was also a batting champ.

He won four home run titles. He had 3,283 career hits.

660 career home runs.

51 years after retiring, he is still number six on the all-time home
