That was a classic and traditional US Open at the LA Country Club this weekend.

Classic and traditional in the sense that it continued that classic and most important tradition involving the U.S. Open.

Everybody complaining about everything and nobody being happy about anything.

Seriously, would it really be the U.S. Open if everybody wasn't critiquing every square inch of the course

and every single tournament decision?

If you think about it that way, then this truly was the quintessential U.S. Open, because it felt like everybody spent the entire weekend whining and crying and bitching and moaning and griping and moping and belly aching and beefing

About pretty much anything and everything you know why it felt like that? Because that's the way it was.

And if you think that I'm exaggerating or embellishing, why don't we go through a short list of

the popular grievances? The course was too easy.

There were too many players under par.

There weren't enough fans there.

The fans that were there weren't nearly rowdy enough.

There were too many blind tee shots. The fairways were too big. The

rough was too rough. It got too late. It got too dark. Plains kept flying overhead. The June gloom was too gloomy. The marine layer

wouldn't go away. I mean that's just the tip of the iceberg. I'm sure I'm

missing a lot more and I don't just mean lava spures on

Twitter with nothing better to do than reach for their phone and complain.

There was some pretty high profile players who got in on the action as well.

Even the defending U.S. Open Champ took a torch to the setup this year.
