So it's great to be back except not like this. I mean I would love very much to be

hyped to get things back to normal after the holiday break

but then again this morning nothing feels normal

obviously because I don't think any of us can really think about

very much other than DeMar Hamlin and his family and his team and everyone who understands that what happened last night was traumatic and will never be forgotten and that in fact it rendered that game completely meaningless.

I tweeted as much last night, and I want to say it again right now.

This is what I said last night.

Pray for De Mar Hamlin and his family and absolutely this game should be cancelled.

The game did not matter.

The only thing that mattered was and is a young man fighting for his life.

The game simply did not matter.

Nor did the playoff implications or seatings or TV ratings or sponsors or gambling or fantasy action

associated with that matchup. None of it mattered. It still doesn't. The players

know the risks that are associated with engaging in such a violent sport, but that didn't make last night any less horrifying.

Because I've never seen anything quite like that. Nor have I seen players

react the way they did on both sides understandably because it was one of the most

disturbing terrifying things ever. Here's the latest update from the Buffalo Bills, which came last night before 1 a.m.

Eastern time, and I quote, De Mar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit in

our game versus the Bengals. His heartbeat was

restored on the field and he was transferred to the UC Medical Center for

further testing and treatment he is currently sedated and listed in critical condition. and and unfortunately that's what we have right now.
