When I was a little boy, one of my favorite things in the world were box turtles.

I loved all different types of turtles, but the box turtle was particularly

cool to me in my young brain because the bottom of the shell called a plastron

is hinged and it closes entirely. I just thought that was cool. So it was like a box.

They were hard to find in the wild. And so at the time it was illegal to sell turtles in pet stores

unfortunately. At least box turtles was illegal to sell them because of Salmonella.

There were all these restrictions. Are you saying illegal? Illegal. Okay. But I found a loophole.

There was a biology catalog that I think one of my teachers, either fifth or sixth grade

teacher gave me because I was really interested in I was really tight with my biology teacher.

I was a cool kid. In the catalog, they had all sorts of things. It was all kind of like biology,

class equipment, all different kinds of things that you would study in a classroom in a science

classroom including turtles, box turtles. So I would buy, I would save up money. I was mowing

lawns. I would save up money for a box turtle. I think they were about $20 and I had quite a few

that I would keep in a sandbox that I had turned into a little outdoor terrarium. I'd taken the

sand out of course. And one of them I named because he was sheldon and he was a boxer. He was so

sheldon. I called him Sheldon. So you'd name him after Sheldon Adelson? No, I wasn't aware of who

that was. I don't know if I knew any sheldons at the time. And Sheldon, that Sheldon, not Adelson,

Sheldon, the turtle escaped. And I later that after the winter came and when everything

thought in the springtime I found a sheldon shell without Sheldon in it. Well, well, well, well, well, well.

Well, maybe he rose. What do you mean? Roast in the dead. Maybe he's living a good

after life and turtle will happen right now. Oh, that's, that's, that's nice.
