Since this is the first episode, I'll try to explain like our whole deal.

Each episode I will have a comedian on to play and talk about one of their jokes.

How can I just talk about one joke for so long you might ask?

To which I would reply, that is a very rude question for you to ask me on my first episode.

For our first episode we have Jim Gaffigan whose fifth stand-up special Cinko is currently on Netflix.

We went to Jim's apartment, which he shares with his wife and five million children.

Jim is a joke writer's joke writer, deliberately write in compact hard jokes, and chunking them together until a topic has been exhausted.

He joked about Hot Pocket so well over a decade ago that people still shout Hot Pocket at him when he walks around.

We'll be talking about a joke from Cinco that comes at the end of a long section about TV and how much Jim watches.

The bit focused on cable news and why the anchors have to be so good looking, which is true.

Fortunately for me, podcasters aren't held to the same standards.

We're allowed to look like tall nerds. Okay, here's Jim Gaffigan.

I watch a lot of cable news because I enjoy being depressed. That's the only reason to watch. After five minutes they just

repeat the same stories. Remember that horrible thing? Wait till we show you 20 more

times. You won't be able to sleep. I think it's interesting how all the cable

newscasters are very attractive. They're very attractive and they're dressed up.
