Hello again friends and welcome to a special edition of the Jim Cornett Experience here this week.

This is a great Brian Lass. Jim is not here with us. Few notes. We were getting ready to record.

We actually were in the middle of recording the Jim Cornett Experience when there was a power outage and then a second one shortly thereafter.

So what we decided to do was air the show scheduled for next week here this week and that is an omnibus special.

There'll be another one on Monday for the drive through due to Jim's travel schedule and then next week on the experience we are going to do a deep dive.

Jim is going to review the smokey mountain wrestling night of legends for the first time not just the business around the event but he's actually going to go back and watch the card from beginning to end and give his thoughts 25 years later on smokey mountain wrestling night of legends.

But before we get there like I said this is a very special omnibus edition. I believe this is five plus hours of in the news and what in the news is is one of the most popular segments on the 605 super podcast where my

All right let's go our first story gym is from St. Louis Missouri on February 27th 1953 Union Fuss busts up wrestling match St. Louis Missouri United Press a crowd of 9000 wrestling fans was turned away from key

lot of Torium Friday night when the lights were turned off shortly before the matches were to begin members of the electricians union pulled the master switch cutting off the power when the stage hands union said the lights were under its jurisdiction.

Everyone always thinks the NWA is meeting and planning on screwing other people the union got together and said here's what we're going to do with the show starts we turn off the lights.

Well I and actually that is the night is a famous story that all the wrestlers because of the respect that they had for Sam much Nick they were all there they were ready to go they traveled from wherever.

And Sam was in the office and going to pay him out of his own pocket and I believe it was Han Schmidt that was designated on behalf of all the boys to go to Sam and say we don't want paid.

This was not your fault you had nothing to do with it and we have too much respect for you imagine that happened on these days.

Imagine are happening in any time in wrestling history other than Paul Bosch I can't think of another promoter that anyone would have treated that way.

No, but that was you know because they knew it was beyond Sam's fault and they had been so good to everybody and as bruiser you say you know if your pay off was you know 175 dollars and 47 cents you'd have 47 cents and change in the envelope.

So you know that but that was one of the famous Sam much Nick stories and and by Cracky those damn stage hands probably got the shit kicked out of them when they left the building that night by some of the rest who knows it is interesting in the midnight express scrapbook you point out what Jim Crockett under oath stated is his method for figuring out the payouts.
