| 0:00.0 | So how is the spring wing going for you, man? I know that it's been a lot of talk about five receivers and how everybody's going to fill in. How is the spring going to go for you? Spring is going good. You know, I got to step up. You lost two-bit receivers last year, Kenny and Kevin. So it's my turn to step up. I mean, obviously, you know, you can't be 6-6 like Calvin was. But, you know, what kind of things can you try to do to be productive in that same way? My speed and rock running. I mean, is there anything you particularly tried to get better at as far as rock running and things like that? Do you feel like you were solid coming in the spring? Or was that something you had to work on the last few weeks? |
| 0:39.1 | I've been pretty solid. You know, I just got to work on my alignment assignment technique. That's what coach been really getting on us about. You know, we got to get the timer with James. Man, we built a good chemistry. Everything been good. How do you build a chemistry with the quarterback? Because I mean you didn't get a whole lot of first-team reps last year, you know, so how do you kind of build that relationship with James? |
| 0:39.0 | Repetitions. That's how he'd been on chemistry. Was there a time maybe over the last couple of weeks in practice where you sort of felt like that was coming along with you and James? Yeah, every day. Does it feel different out there? Does it almost like feeling your head? like, okay, this is what that's supposed to feel like? Yeah, yes, sir. You said the coaches have been on you guys. How does it feel, you know, when the coaches are, I don't know if they're singing you out or singing out the receivers as a whole? You know, what's that like in practice? It ain't nothing bad. Coach just won't. He just won't the best for you. Basically, he's telling you, if we need to step up. So I take it a good way. I know coach's trying to get me better, and I'm trying to get the whole team better. Is there anything different in your mindset this year versus last year? Obviously, you have the open spots this year. but I know last year a lot of the guys were talking about, you know, Lamarcus Joyner and, you know, you talk to past a veteran guys. I mean, is that different for you this year? |
| 1:51.7 | Yeah, I think, yeah, I'm more hungry this year. |
| 1:44.3 | Because, you know, everybody think we're trying to defend our national title. |
| 1:49.1 | We're trying to hunt for another one. |
| 1:50.3 | We ain't trying to defend it. |
| 1:51.6 | We just got to hunt for another one. |
| 2:00.9 | We're trying to defend it. |
| 2:02.2 | We just got to keep grinding and know what we got the rings for you. |
| 2:06.0 | Where do you feel like you've gotten better, I guess, from last year to this year so far? |
| 2:09.3 | Detailment, assignment, technique. |
| 2:12.4 | It sounded like early on in spring practice, Coach Fisher wasn't all that pleased with the wide receivers as a whole, but the last week he's spoken much more highly of you. |
| 2:21.4 | What's kind of the difference in that time? |
| 2:22.7 | Everybody been stepping up. Everybody knew what they're fighting for. |
| 2:25.1 | What are they fighting for? |
| 2:27.3 | Northern national title. |
| 2:28.9 | You talk about the coaches maybe calling you guys out a little bit. |
| 2:34.2 | What's it like when, you know, James is a guy that's not afraid to get into a teammate if they're not doing their job. You know, what's that been like, you know, what's that relationship been like? Obviously, you're not taking it personal, but, you know, has he gotten into you guys and not been afraid to let you guys know what's going on? Yeah, James going to let you know. he's going to be real with you. He's going to get you better. |
| 2:32.0 | At the end of the day, he wants you to be great. |
| 2:33.5 | I obviously, you know, you say you don't want to take a person, |
| 2:36.3 | but the first time that happened you get caught out by the eyes winning quarterback you know is that kind of a tough thing to happen the first the first time it happens no i mean james i got repetition with the one last year so i already know what type of guy james is i'll just get better does he have any pet views that kind of set him off more than others? Does he really won't say routes or a little drop kind of set him off? Yeah, every, we've got to make sure we don't cut our route short because everything about timing. So you've got to run your route to perfection. That's what coach really getting on us about. How much of an adjustment is that, you know, knowing that, yeah, it's one thing to, you know, watch Kenny go through routes and watch Rashad go through route treaties, but now you're, you're out there a whole lot more running beside him. You know, was that some, how much of an adjustment was that for you just realizing, oh, I have to know every single step and no, five yards here, 10 yards there? And that was a big adjustment because I got to learn every position in a ride receiver. I've learned every position and I've been really been in the playbook. I've been to playbook heavy late so I got to step up. How long it takes you to kind of get, feel like you were comfortable with all those little things? It didn't take me quite that long because I've been getting a lot of repetition in this spring. I've been really grounding. What position do you feel like your best at for one of you? I like, I like, I like inside. I like inside. What about it? I like outside, too. I can't really, I can't really say it because I'm one-on-one out there. Well, inside is kind of a different mentality when you know that you're going to be able to play more physical. |
