Being in Sweden and talking about joy reminds me of a story I've heard from John

Piper over the years.

It gets at the heart of what real joy is.

I'm not just talking joy this weekend.

We're talking real joy.

And a common misunderstanding might be, as we talk about real joy,

that the joy is external and it's enthusiastic,

and it radiates like Trevor, or it's loud like an American.

We're talking about real joy.

We're talking about joy in the heart, first and foremost.

It will have external manifestations of various sorts, in actions, in words, through different personality types and different

nationality bent, which brings about this story. You should be really hopeful that John

Piper ministered 33 years in Minneapolis, Minnesota,

with a lot of Swedish ancestors,

Swedish descendants in Minneapolis.

And there was a man who came up to him one time,

and John's talking about joy, and he came up and said,

I have a Swedish personality.

When my son kicked the winning field goal,

this is American football, field goals.

American football, where we don't really use our feet much,

it's a little kicking.
