John chapter 18.

You are a king then, Pilate asked.

You say that I'm a king, Jesus replied.

I was born for this, and I have come into the world for this to testify to the truth.

Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.

What is truth? said Pilate.

Let's begin by reciting God's goodness,

praising him for who he is and what we learn of him in today's text.

Jesus, thank you for your obedience, even in this conversation with Pilate, that you obeyed

the Father, not defending yourself, not seeking to get out of a death sentence, but walking into it.

It's by your truth that we know truth.

And in your goodness, you reveal what is true in our own lives, even when that truth means

that you're revealing sin in our lives.

Just as you were revealing sin in Pilate's life, his fear and his pride and his desire to remain in control, God thank you,
