Galatians chapter 1. Our texts today will be verses 10 through 12. I'll ask you to turn there in your Bibles and once you do, if you're able, please stand. You can follow along as I read. If not, that's all right from where you're seated. We'll begin reading in verse 10. And the Apostle Paul continues now, writing by the Holy Spirit

to the churches there in the region known at that time as Galatia.

And he says, verse 10, am I now trying to win the approval of human beings or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still

trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ. I want you to know, verse

11, brothers and sisters, that the gospel I preached is not of human

origin. I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it, rather I received it by

revelation from Jesus Christ.

Let's pray, if you would join with me.

We'll ask God's blessing on our understanding.

Loving Heavenly Father, we're so thankful to you for your word in this portion that we have before us today here

in your word.

But Lord, unless you, by the Holy Spirit, minister the understanding of it to our hearts, the

time that we're going to have together in your word is going to be a waste of time and none of us want that. And surely you don't want that.

So Lord, we're going to ask that you would minister to us and show us what it is that you want

us to see and more importantly that we would take heed to your

word today. For we ask this in Jesus' name, amen. And amen, you can be seated. Thank you.

Today's teaching is going to be part two of a series I've titled simply Jesus only.

If you were to put a caption on this epistle to the Galatians, I think it would need to be something along the lines of freedom in Christ.

And the reason for that is the Apostle Paul is addressing, maybe better

said, confronting the legalism vis-a-vis the different gospel that had taken up residence in the Galatian churches. Specifically,

this adding to the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. For those of you who read
