All right, let's dig in.

We are looking at Colossians chapter one

so that we can understand better who Jesus is.

That's really a basic question that we all need answered because Jesus is the central

theme, the central figure in everything that God himself is doing in history.

And as for that reason, we want to know him, in fact that we need to know him.

Because listen to this,

verse 17 of Colossians, chapter one says,

and he, Jesus, is before all things.

And in him, all things hold together. Now we mentioned in a previous episode that the

phrase Paul uses just a verse before this that says Jesus is the firstborn of all creation

means that he is the authority over creation. Well here's another way that Paul says
