Without the father there is a gnawing hunger in every man's breast. Now you may be

wearing a mask today. You may be laughing and going on your way, but I'll tell you this much. Down in your heart, if you

don't know the Lord Jesus Christ, there is a hunger for God. And so what our Lord is talking about here is the weakness of man without God, like a sheep.

The worthlessness of man, like a lost coin the wretchedness of man away from God.

You know, people love stories and every story needs a hero.

You know, my father was a fireman and I understand when people cheer

when a fireman comes out of a burning building,

carrying a child or when an earthquake victim is pulled from the rubble after all hope is lost,

or even when someone adrift is found alive.

We say these people are saved. or even when someone adrift is found alive.

But how much more should we point people to the only true hero, Jesus Christ, who was able

to run into the flames, dig through the rubble, or reach the

castaway and save those who are facing eternity in hell.
