Hi, I'm Edward Sree and welcome to all things Catholic where real faith meets real life.

0:13.1

Sometimes when we're traveling, one of my little kids will have a souvenir or some precious

0:17.8

toy of theirs that they don't want to lose, they don't want it to get broken so they

0:21.4

hold on to it really tightly, they want to carry it with them on the plane or in the car

0:25.0

wherever going and I'm worried for them because they're holding on to it so tightly or they

0:29.1

lose it. I just tell them here, give it to me. I'll take care of it. I'll make sure that

0:34.0

you get it when we get to the final destination. Just put it in my hands. It'll be fine and they're

0:38.4

like, no, I need to hold on to it. Don't trust me. Trust me. It's okay. You can put it in my hands

0:45.0

and eventually they finally let go and they put it in my hands. But it reminds me of what Jesus does

0:51.1

on Good Friday right before he dies. His last words were all about putting something in his

0:58.3

Father's hands. He said, Father, into your hands, I commit my spirit. Jesus gave everything. He

1:06.8

didn't hold anything back. He didn't cling on. He gave everything and trusting everything

1:13.5

into the Father's hands. As we're in this week of all weeks, this holy week, my question for you

1:20.0

is this, what might the Father be inviting you to put into his hands? What is it that you're

1:27.0

clinging onto? What is it that is burdening you? That the Father just wants you to put that

1:33.4

in his hands as a certain area of your life, a certain situation, maybe a certain worry,

1:39.2

a certain fear, a certain sin that's weighing you down and the Father just wants you to put it

1:45.5

in his hands. As we enter this great week of holy week, let's not just be faithful to our

1:53.8

lint in sacrifices. Of course, let's do that. Let's be faithful to those extra prayers and

1:58.5

devotions, those things we gave up all the way to the finish line. But let's also give Jesus a

2:04.9

great gift. Let's give the Father a great gift. And that's the gift of entrusting something special

2:12.2

from our heart, something that may be like a little child we've been clinging onto too much.
